Biography
Introduction
Olivia Ouyang, Founder of Octave Music Academy, GOCAA Artist, Concert Pianist with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, a master's degree in music education from Columbia University, and a collaborative piano master's degree from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. She also holds a Bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music and is a Steinway Educational Artist. She has been recognized as the "most promising international young pianist" by the Kansas State Broadcasting Station.

As a pianist, Olivia Ouyang's performances have graced stages across Asia, Europe, and North America. This includes prestigious venues like Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York City, the Eastman Kilbourn Music Hall in Rochester, the Kansas Public Broadcasting Station, the Newman Recital Hall in Los Angeles, the Palace of Versailles in Paris, the Cortot Hall in Paris, the Yichang Opera House in China, the Chinese Carillon Musical Hall, the Salzburg Mozart Theater, the Vienna Music Hall, and the Brussels Art Center. She has also been invited to perform solo recitals at the Banff International Piano Music Festival in Canada, the Baldwin Music Festival in the United States, the Texas Piano Music Festival, the Gijon International Music Festival in Spain, and the Amalfi International Music Festival in Italy.

Olivia Ouyang is active in the classical music scene and has achieved numerous awards and honors, including the first prize at the Brussels Grand Prize Competition, the first prize at the Salzburg International Music Competition, the George Eastman Scholarship, the Fan Li'er Keyboard Prize, and the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Keyboard Collaboration Art Scholarship.
As an educator, Ms. Ouyang founded the Octave Music Academy educational brand in 2021, dedicated to bringing music to music enthusiasts of different ages and needs. She hopes that this music education brand can provide a platform for music teachers worldwide to find suitable students they like. In the past two years, her students have won first prizes in major competitions and performed at Disney Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. She is also a Steinway Educational Artist, MTNA/MTAC board member, a former piano teacher at Columbia University, and has received the title of the Best Steinway Teacher.
Ms. Ouyang was born in Wuhan, Hubei, and showed her talent for music from a young age, starting to learn the piano at the age of five. She enrolled in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Affiliated Primary School at the age of seven with outstanding results and was admitted to the Eastman School of Music with a high scholarship. During her studies, she was enlightened by Professor Zhang Fang, Professor Chen Wan, Professor Wu Yiqing, and Professor Zheng Xiaofeng. At the age of 12, she won awards in the Mei Hua International Elite Competition and studied under Professor Huang Chufang. At the age of 17, she entered the Eastman School of Music and was taught by Douglas Humpherys, a famous pianist and educator who was the former head of the piano department at the Eastman School of Music. For her master's degree, she studied with Jonathan Feldman, Collaborative Piano faculty at the Juilliard School. For her doctoral degree, she studied with Keith Fitzgerald, a renowned pianist and educator at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California.

In the summer concert season of 2024, Olivia Ouyang will present a series of solo piano concerts with the theme 'East Meets West' in May and June at eight theaters in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Fujian, Anhui, Inner Mongolia, Shijiazhuang, and other regions. In July and August, she has been invited to perform solo concerts in Italy, France, and Poland.
